Web Development Options

I guess when it comes to web development and web design, you have two options. You either do it yourself or you hire a professional. There are advantages with each option, but what is best for you? I guess it comes down to your own skill level and design / development competence. If you have the skills to take on such a project yourself along with the necessary time needed, this might be the best option for you. If you don’t have the skills to complete the project, then you’re going to need to hire a professional. Professional web development services differ greatly in cost, method and how each project is handled. If you decide to go with a larger web design company, you will often find the approach very strict, business like and extremely formal. You will be requested to submit a complete specification for your project, pay a deposit and simply let them get on with it, with very little input required on your behalf. However, if you decide to work with a freelance web designer on your custom web development project. It will be a lot more informal and you’ll no doubt be able to have a good say in what goes into the project along the way.

Choosing A Logo Designer

Finding a good logo designer is often tough. I mean sure, there are lots of logo designers out there, especially online, but who is the best? More to the point, who is the best for you? From personal experience, the best logo designers are the ones who you can actually speak with to discuss your project. A lot of the larger online logo design companies out there are often faceless. You simply provide a rough spec and hope somewhere down the line, someone can interpret it. This might work if you choose a package with lots of different concepts but if you only have 3 chances at getting something right, it often doesn’t work out. Personally, I prefer hiring a freelance designer, an individual who doesn’t just solely work off a set spec. This way you can be sure that the designer does exactly what you require and you don’t end up with concepts that are a million miles away from what you envisage. Of course, custom logo design services is just one option. You can also find ready-made logos around the web that you can simply add your text to, however this doesn’t look too professional and the chances of finding one that works for you or your business are slim.

The Internet - A Webmasters Haven

The world of the internet has brought people from across the seas closer. Never before has so much information been passed through so many hands at the same time, and faster than any known sources of communication. The number of people online is any webmaster’s delight, and the number just increases every single day. People have found whole new ways of staying in touch online, whether it is through emails, chats, social networking sites or forums.

As with any professional who has discovered that there is so much to be gained through the internet, even webmasters who run websites are constantly looking out for ways to improve and present their work. Many have discovered that the ideal place to connect with the rest of the world is by joining a webmaster community forum. Whether it is for tips, suggestions, advice and news on the latest tools or to make the most of their business, a number of webmasters have now sought refuge in webmaster forums. What makes it more interesting is the fact that some forums even have a “Buy Sell Websites Marketplace” where webmasters can trade their websites or simply go ahead and either buy or sell a website that they own. They have indeed figured out that there is enough and more to be gained through such forums.

Choosing the Right Business Directory

Choosing the proper business directory requires patience and skill. The Internet provides a wonderful opportunity for almost any business to advertise itself in it; though sometimes it is not in the view of the CEO or business manager to create their own website and advertise on their own. On other occasions, the idea to expand way beyond the borders of the country where the business is located seems too complicated and the only way they perceive this possible is through a business directory.

As a result, the personnel of the company will surf around the internet looking for the best possible business directory in the country or countries where the business would like to start operations. However, this means that they will have to create an entry at each country’s business directory either in the specialized business directory or in the general version of the white or yellow pages.

The white and yellow pages are certainly a good choice when it comes to advertise in a generic way all over the world, nonetheless, this type of business directory might not be the right place for a business to advertise if they are planning to enter an international market, though it can be a starting point for neophyte businesses.

Tips For Creating An Great Online Web Design Portfolio

If you are someone who enjoys working with clients and creating designs then a online web design portfolio site would be essential for you. By design portfolios I mean a website with your best past design work. It’s extremely difficult to get clients if you don’t have any work to show, unless you willing to work for free.

Before you start designing your portfolio site on paper or in Photoshop you should try to get some feedbacks on your existing work. You can do this in a number of ways - the friend option would be a good starting point. After you get feedbacks from them you can then do the same on public places like a forum or contact someone who is already in the web design field. Things like the site layout, colour scheme, navigation, fonts etc. are some really essential parts of a website that are viewed the most. You don’t have to follow exactly what people say, but if five people tell you the same thing then chances are they’re properly right.

Making the “wow” impression on your portfolio site is important, to do that you will first need to look at what others have done but never ever try to copy them. After you get the feel of what’s already out there you then need to come up with something that’s unique, and stand out. It’s important to remember that your portfolio site should communicate the right message. Always ask yourself how would I like to be perceived? What is my design style? Should I show 20 or 30 pieces of my work?

If you have worked in a design agency or have done work for people privately in the past then try them ask for a testimonial. Tell them that you will provide a link back to their site. Testimonials show that you have successfully worked with different people and they’re happy with your service. If possible ask people to give specific information on their testimonials. For example, “after the new website has been online my sales has gone up by 20% in the last month.”

The Basics of Web Design

The possibility of having your own website can very much be a reality. However, it is something that you will have to want and work to bring into being literally.

One of the first things to realize is that web design is not just all about the creation of a specific web page and that is that. It involves a lot more than just coming up with an idea for said web page and so forth.

There are steps to creating a website that must take place even before the actual creation process takes place. One of the very first steps in the development of a web page is no other than the organization of your site from the beginning. If you organize the folders for your web page before its overall creation, you will be able to locate the pages effectively later when you need to find them.

Some of the other basics do include:

- Give names to your pages and graphics that you can remember.
- Add only graphics of a small size to your pages.
- Make sure that your pages are updated regularly.

Make sure to create folders for different file types in existence. To gain valueable traffic to your website, you might also want to consider PPC Advertising.

Jazz Up Your Profile

You’ve got a great circle of friends. Each time you check your Inbox, it is inundated with MySpace updates. Clicking on your friends’ pages, you quickly find that you are compelled to browse each and every one of these attractive pages. Some belong to strangers whom you hardly even know, so why are you so obligated to check them out?

You actively update your profile and upload every single photograph that will give a clue about your lifestyle in a bid to attract more new friends, but to no avail. The solution to this is rather simple: Give your MySpace page a better layout.

The first thing that you should do is to ensure that your fonts are readable. Matrix-like background with neon green words look really cool and all but your readers might leave your page with sore eye balls, thanks to the high contrast. Next, you should try to prioritise your information and give them better titles, one that will sum up nicely what you are trying to say. Grab readers’ attention the first chance you get. A header like “Why I Eat Hamsters For Breakfast” will certainly garner more interest than a mere “My Profile” title. Finally, when optimising your MySpace layout, make sure you go easy on the graphics. Utilise HTML and create thumbnails for your huge photographs, and use .gif animations sparingly or it will turn off visitors.

If you follow the steps above, you’re well on your way to be the talk of the (MySpace) town! ;-)
