One of the first things you will need to know when you decide that you career path is aimed in the direction of web design, is job title. There are so many different job titles in the industry it can be somewhat confusing. Some of the job titles in web design are digital developer, graphic designer, layout artist, program manager, information architect and many more. When you are looking for jobs check the job description for words like “web” or “html” this is a good start to finding a career in web design.

One of the best things about having a career in web design is that all you need is your computer. You can work from home as a freelance web designer or start your own business. The best and quickest way to get into freelance web design is to design a web site for yourself; somewhere potential customers can go to see your work.

You will need to consider a few things when deciding on prices to charge for your web design work. You need to think about the number of pages. Are there going to be any pictures on those pages? Does the site already have its own content or will you be writing that as well? What about Flash media or videos? You will also need to figure in the cost of maintenance if you decide to offer it.

Web design is a fun and fulfilling way to earn a living.
